Google's Visakhapatnam Data Centre Project Faces Environmental Scrutiny

Google's proposed $15 billion data centre project in Visakhapatnam has come under environmental scrutiny, with activists raising concerns over water availability and the potential impact on the nearby Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary. A public interest litigation has also been filed, and the matter is scheduled to be heard by the Andhra Pradesh High Court later this month.

The Andhra Pradesh government has maintained that the project will comply with environmental regulations and said no residential or rural drinking water sources will be diverted. Google has stated that the facility will use advanced cooling technologies to reduce water consumption and environmental impact. The project is expected to generate significant employment and strengthen Visakhapatnam's position as a technology hub.
