Trainee Pilot, Software Engineer Detained in Hyderabad Drug Case
Jubilee Hills police seize suspected hydroponic cannabis and other narcotics during a raid in Madhapur; investigation underway to trace the alleged supplier.
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 16, 2026: Jubilee Hills police have detained a trainee pilot and a software engineer following a raid at Redwood Residency on Road No. 6 in Kakatiya Hills, Madhapur, where officers seized suspected hydroponic cannabis and other narcotics.
The action was reportedly based on information received by police about suspected drug consumption at the premises.
WHAT HAPPENED
Police identified the detained individuals as Kabir Minocha, who was undergoing pilot training and also working as a gym trainer, and Talari Hemanth, a software engineer.
According to police, the two were allegedly found consuming marijuana during the raid.
Officers seized:
80 grams of suspected hydroponic cannabis
15 grams of suspected narcotic substance
The seized substances will be subject to the applicable legal and forensic process.
POLICE INVESTIGATION
A case has been registered under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish the source of the substances and identify other people who may be connected to the alleged supply network.
ALLEGED SUPPLIER SOUGHT
Investigators are searching for a person identified as Sagar, who police suspect may be the alleged supplier in the case.
Authorities are also questioning the detained individuals to determine whether the case has links to a wider narcotics network operating in or around Hyderabad's Old City.
LEGAL STATUS
The individuals have been detained in connection with the investigation, and a case has been registered under the NDPS Act. Allegations against them remain subject to the investigation and applicable legal proceedings.
