AMARAVATI, AUGUST 16, 2026: The Rajiv Ranjan Mishra Commission has submitted its report to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, providing the government with empirical data that is expected to form the basis for determining Backward Classes (BC) reservations in local bodies.
The report comes at a crucial stage as the state prepares for municipal and panchayat elections and seeks to ensure that its reservation framework withstands legal scrutiny.
WHAT HAPPENED
The state government constituted the single-member commission, headed by Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, to study the socio-economic position and political representation of BC communities.
