Naidu Calls for Collective Resolve to Build ‘Swarnandhra’ by 2047
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister says the state has moved from crisis to stability, highlighting growth, investment, jobs and infrastructure as pillars of the Swarnandhra vision.
AMARAVATI, AUGUST 16, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called on people to make a collective commitment to building “Swarnandhra” by 2047, saying the state has moved from a period of crisis towards stability and is now entering a phase of accelerated development.
Addressing the Independence Day celebrations in Amaravati after hoisting the National Flag and receiving the guard of honour, Naidu said the Swarnandhra vision was aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's broader goal of “Viksit Bharat”.
DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh's growth rate had increased to 11.3%.
According to figures cited by the Chief Minister:
₹8,269 crore was saved through measures aimed at reducing the state's interest burden.
₹1.50 lakh crore was spent on welfare programmes.
₹1.34 lakh crore was spent on development.
Investment agreements worth ₹24 lakh crore have been signed.
Projects worth ₹14 lakh crore have received approval.
The approved investments have the potential to generate around 11 lakh jobs.
Naidu also said Foreign Direct Investment increased six-and-a-half times over two years, citing investments and projects involving companies including Google, ArcelorMittal, JSW Steel, Dalmia Cement, AM Green, Hero and Royal Enfield, along with the ₹95,000-crore BPCL project.
EMPLOYMENT PUSH
The state government has set a target of creating 20 lakh jobs over the next five years, according to Naidu.
He said 15,941 vacancies had been filled through Mega DSC, while teacher recruitment would be conducted annually.
A separate job calendar covering 10,000 vacancies has also been released, he said.
IRRIGATION AND POLAVARAM
Naidu highlighted irrigation development as another major priority.
The government has spent around ₹25,000 crore on irrigation projects over 26 months, he said, with 36 major projects worth ₹35,000 crore targeted for completion within three years.
The Chief Minister said work on the Polavaram project had reached 89%.
He also referred to the Veligonda project, Vamsadhara-Nagavali interlinking and Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi among the major irrigation initiatives.
AMARAVATI AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Naidu said Amaravati was being developed as a blue-green city and deep-tech capital.
He also highlighted planned improvements in ports, airports, highways and railways, along with green-energy projects, as part of efforts to strengthen Andhra Pradesh's logistics and economic infrastructure.
‘PEOPLE FIRST’ APPROACH
The Chief Minister said the government's development strategy would follow a “people first” approach, with particular attention to:
Women
Farmers
Youth
MSMEs
Welfare programmes
Tourism
Entrepreneurship
He cited initiatives including Annadatha Sukhibhava, P4, MSME parks and tourism investments as components of this approach.
MESSAGE TO CITIZENS
Naidu urged different sections of society to contribute to the state's development, calling on students to focus on innovation, farmers to adopt natural farming practices, employees to work with dedication and women to pursue greater economic self-reliance.
He asked citizens to treat the coming two decades as a mission for strengthening both Andhra Pradesh and India.
INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE
The celebrations also featured contingents from the Andhra Pradesh Special Police, CRPF, Karnataka Police, NCC and Scouts.
Naidu later presented police medals recognising meritorious service.
Calling for a shared commitment to the state's future, the Chief Minister urged citizens to work collectively towards the Swarnandhra 2047 vision.
