NEW DELHI, August 16, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary, remembering him as an extraordinary leader and statesman who devoted his life to the service of the nation.
Modi said Vajpayee's vision and leadership made a lasting contribution to India's development and that his words and actions continue to inspire generations.

TRIBUTES AT SADAIV ATAL
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan also paid their respects to the former Prime Minister at Sadaiv Atal, Vajpayee's memorial in New Delhi.

Birla highlighted Vajpayee's long parliamentary career, noting that he served in 10 Lok Sabha elections and two Rajya Sabha terms over several decades.
He also remembered Vajpayee as a distinguished parliamentarian, orator, journalist and poet.
VAJPAYEE'S LIFE AND LEGACY
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born in Gwalior on December 25, 1924.
He became the first BJP leader to serve as Prime Minister of India and remained one of the country's most influential political figures.
Vajpayee died in New Delhi on August 16, 2018, after a prolonged illness.
