Pawan Kalyan Skips ‘At Home’ Reception After Developing High Fever
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister's health condition worsened during an Independence Day programme in Rajamahendravaram, prompting medical attention and a return to Hyderabad.
AMARAVATI, AUGUST 16, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan did not attend the Independence Day “At Home” reception at Lok Bhavan in Vijayawada on Saturday after developing a high fever, according to his office.
The Lok Bhavan authorities were informed that Pawan Kalyan would be unable to attend the event, which was attended by Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other dignitaries.
WHAT HAPPENED
Pawan Kalyan had participated in the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Kakinada on Saturday morning.
He later travelled to Rajamahendravaram, where he inaugurated the Central Craft Wood Bank established by the Forest Department.
His health reportedly deteriorated during the programme, forcing him to shorten his engagement. Doctors examined him in Rajamahendravaram.
After his condition improved somewhat, he travelled to Hyderabad, according to his office.
HEALTH UPDATE
Pawan Kalyan had recently undergone surgery on his right shoulder and is expected to consult medical specialists in Hyderabad regarding physiotherapy and rehabilitation following the procedure.
His health has also affected his participation in several recent government engagements.
RECENT ABSENCES
Pawan Kalyan did not attend the inauguration of the Seed Access Road in Amaravati by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on August 13.
He had also been absent from the previous three Cabinet meetings, with party leaders attributing his absence to health-related reasons.

Pawan Kalyan is expected to undergo further medical consultation in Hyderabad, including discussions on the physiotherapy required following his shoulder surgery. His participation in upcoming government programmes will depend on his health and recovery.
